We went to Blenheim on bank holiday Monday because I wanted to walk from the Ditchley Gate right up to the house. Well, it was pouring down with rain so that wasn’t happening.
I managed to check a few aspects of the parkland that I wanted to, but we were soon escaping into the Icons of British Fashion exhibition inside the Palace. As you can probably tell, I am not a fashionista, so found the whole thing rather baffling. I can see venues like Blenheim need to do this kind of thing to attract repeat visits but I was more interested in what they had done with the Blenheim Despatch than the latest bag by Lulu Guinness.
Later, I consoled myself with a look at All Souls from the Radcliffe Square gate in Oxford, complete with Nicholas Hawkmoor’s gothic towers. Now that’s what I call iconic!
